Medicare for Veterans

Speak with a licensed insurance specialist to determine your Medicare eligibility.

Do I need both VA benefits and Medicare?

As a veteran, you may be wondering if you need Medicare coverage when you’re already receiving VA benefits. To ensure you’re covered for the care you need, enrolling in Medicare is highly recommended.

VA health care is not considered a complete health insurance plan. Enrolling in Medicare Part B – and alternatively Medicare Advantage plans, which often provide even more coverage – gives veterans access to a number of medical services and providers they would have to pay for out of pocket with VA benefits alone.

  • VA benefits are not a replacement for a health insurance plan.
  • Enrolling in Medicare gives veterans access to hundreds of thousands of providers not covered by VA benefits.
  • Medicare Advantage plans often offer even more coverage than VA benefits and traditional Medicare.
