Looking to Save on Healthcare Costs?

Original Medicare can save you a lot of money on healthcare costs, but it’s not going to cover everything. In fact, when it comes to vital equipment like hearing aids, dentures, or even prescription medications, Original Medicare might leave you with the bill. You need something more: something that can help cover you in more situations without breaking the bank. Depending on your situation, Medicare Advantage may be just what you need.

Medicare Advantage, also known as Medicare Part C, is a government subsidized program that allows you to get Medicare coverage through many of the insurance companies you’re already familiar with. In addition to offering all the coverage of Original Medicare, these plans offer benefits like hearing, dental, and vision care, and perks like gym memberships and grocery delivery. Best of all, many plans are available with $0 premiums! Not for you? You can also shore up your coverage with Medigap Supplemental Insurance, or Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.

There are a variety of Medicare plans available in the Jonesboro, AR area, and MedicareInsurance.com can help you sort for your options and find one that fits your needs!

  • Original Medicare doesn’t cover certain common medical expenses, like hearing aids.

Enrolling in Medicare Advantage

Ready to enroll in Medicare? Not so fast! There are specific regulations and requirements that you must meet before you can enroll. Here’s a quick overview of the four Medicare Advantage enrollment periods..

  1. Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): This is the first time you can sign up for Medicare. It typically starts three months before your 65th birthday and lasts for seven months. During this period, you can enroll in Original Medicare (Part A and/or Part B) and also choose a Medicare Advantage plan or a standalone prescription drug plan.
  2. Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): This period occurs each year from October 15 to December 7. During the AEP, you can make changes to your Medicare coverage. You can switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan, switch between different Medicare Advantage plans, or join, switch, or drop a standalone prescription drug plan.
  3. Open Enrollment Period (OEP): This period happens from January 1 to March 31. It allows individuals who already have a Medicare Advantage plan to make changes to their coverage. You can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare. However, you cannot switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan during this period.
  4. Special Enrollment Period (SEP): This is a unique period outside of the regular enrollment periods. It is triggered by certain qualifying events, such as moving out of your plan’s service area, losing your current coverage, or qualifying for Medicaid. One notable SEP is the one connected to 5-Star rated Medicare Advantage Plans, allowing you to enroll in one at any point from December 8 to November 30 of the following year.
