Discover Medicare Advantage Plans in Memphis, TN
We get it. Medicare is a lot more confusing than it needs to be, especially if you’ve got specific medical needs. What are all of these different parts of Medicare? How can you be sure you’ll have all the coverage you need?
Original Medicare, also known as Medicare Part A and Part B, can cover many of your medical needs, but you might be shocked to find some pretty big gaps in coverage. Things like vision care and prescription medications simply aren’t handled under Original Medicare. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t get the coverage you need through Medicare. There are many plans available in the Memphis, TN area that can fill these gaps and offer benefits you might not have even considered.
Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, can cover things that Original Medicare can’t. Still, not all Medicare Advantage plans offer the same benefits, making it important to compare the plans available in the Memphis area. You might even find that a less comprehensive plan like Medigap or Medicare Part D: Prescription Drug coverage is all you need. It’s important to understand your options so you can make the best choice for your health. That’s where we can help. Looking to enroll in a new Medicare Advantage plan, or change your existing coverage? It’s important to confirm you’re eligible for an enrollment period first.
Medicare has a seven-month Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which starts three months before your 65th birthday, runs through your birthday month, and ends three months later. If you qualify for Medicare as a result of a diagnosis of a disability or illness, such as ALS or End-Stage Renal Disease, you also qualify for an IEP.
During your IEP, you can enroll in Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Part D: Prescription Drug coverage. You can also enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs from October 15 to December 7 each year.
An Open Enrollment Period (OEP) takes place every year between January 1 and March 31. The OEP is the time to make any changes to your Medicare coverage.
Even if you miss the IEP, AEP, or OEP, you may still be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). SEPs let you make changes to your Medicare plan or enroll without late enrollment penalties. For instance, if you recently relocated to the Memphis, TN area, you may be eligible for an SEP.
Finally, some zip codes are eligible for highly rated, 5-Star Medicare Advantage plans. If one of these plans becomes available in your area and you wish to enroll, you may also qualify for a SEP.
